Samantha Barks is set to play Eponine in Les Miserables
Barks, who beat out a list of high-profile Hollywood candidates including Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele and Evan Rachel Wood, will reprise the role she played twice on stage. Barks played Eponine in a 2010 London production of Les Miserables and reprised the role for the 2011 Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the 02 Arena.
Barks learned she got the role when theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh appeared at the curtain call of Barks' current gig on Oliver! at Manchester Palaceand announced the news.
"I can't believe I'm going to play Eponine, a role so close to my heart, a role I played in the West End," Barks said in a statement. "It's the happiest moment of my life."
Hugh is in London now.
Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) were presented last week. Deborra-lee Furness voiced one of the owl characters in "Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole" – and Grant Freckelton won the award for Best Visual Effects.
